Ruminations Installation
Complex surfaces and simple forms, old and new, immutable and decaying. My work is a discussion with material, finding compromise as we reach a mutual understanding of each other. Limited to cold connections so as to preserve the accumulated surface, traditional jewelry materials are paired with the rusty steel. Rusty steel is persistent, despite the perception of having outlived its usefulness. The rust reveals the past and is unable to conceal any of its experiences, yet it continues to endure through all its weathering. Imperfections of found steel are highlighted and celebrated, bright enamel, gemstones, or precious metals offer playful moments amidst contemplation. These wearable objects investigate preciousness and question values.
